McComas Blames Delays with New School Construction and Software Issues
Kent County was recently penalized $3.3 million in funding for a new middle school due to lack of maintenance on the current middle school, failing a state inspection in July 2025 with a score of 67%, or “not adequate.”
The inspection report cited problems with cleanliness, roofs and drainage, ceilings, electrical and problems with the computerized maintenance management system, which had 42 open work orders dating back to December of 2024 at the time of inspection in July. Such inspections are routine and required when students are attending.
