Kent's July 4 Weekend Calendar packed with parade, fireworks and Waterman's Day

Kent County will host lineup of activities this July 4 Weekend.
July 3- Rock Hall Fireworks.
The fun starts Thursday, July 3, as the Town of Rock Hall hosts its annual fireworks show over the harbor. The program starts at 9:00 p.m. A July 4 rain date is planned. Whether traveling by water or land, arrive early to get a good viewing position.
July 4 - Maryland Free Fishing Day - All day
July 4 is Free Fishing Day #3 when everyone can fish Maryland waters without a license. This a great opportunity for license holders to introduce family or friends to fishing without any licensing cost. A free registration is required for those fishing tidal or saltwater (not ponds).

July 4 daytime – Rock Hall Flat Five Mile Race, Annual Parade, and family activities.
July 4 activities start early with the 42nd Flat Five Mile Run at 8:00 a.m. The five-mile footrace takes a route through the town, starting and finishing on South Main Street in front of the Municipal Building.
The race is sponsored by the Town of Rock Hall and Java Rock coffee shop. You can pre-register for $20 or register Friday morning for $30. Race entries close at 7:45 a.m. on race day.
The race includes Junior (under 20), Open (20-35), Sub-Master (36-49), and Master (50+) divisions for both men and women.
The race is followed by an awards ceremony. Prizes for overall division winners along with other prizes.
The Fourth of July parade starts at 10 a.m. by the water plant and commences down Main Street. The crowds turn out for this parade, so plan to get there early.
Following the parade, the town has activities planned at the Civic Center starting at 11:00 a.m. There will be kids’ games and events, refreshments and live entertainment.
July 4 evening – Chestertown fireworks
The Town of Chestertown will host fireworks on the Chester River at Wilmer Park located at 416 S. Cross Street. The presentation will start at 9:10 p.m. with a rain delay allowance. Rain date for the show will be July 5.
July 4 evening – Great Oak fireworks
The Great Oak Yacht Club will host its show starting at 8:30 p.m. Watch the presentation from Fairlee Creek or while enjoying the live music at Jelleefish Joel’s beachfront tiki bar located at Safe Harbor Marina at Great Oak Landing in Chestertown, Maryland.
July 6 - Waterman’s Day
On Sunday, July 6, Rock Hall will hold the Kent County Watermen’s Association’s annual Waterman's Day celebration at the Rock Hall Bulkhead from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM. The event celebrates Rock Hall’s fisheries heritage and the skill and experience of today’s fishing fleet, that includes crabbers, fishermen and oystermen. The event includes the opportunity for members of the boating public can demonstrate their docking skills for prizes. The Anchor Toss follows. The longest throw in age and gender divisions win prizes.
The big event is the Work Boat docking contest when the captains and crews of the Rock Hall fleet compete.
The day continues with activities, including midway games, a dunking booth, and other family-friendly fun. Waterman’s Day draws plenty of food vendors. Live music is presented throughout the day.
